CJL STARS 10U (Stewart) Win State Tune-up

Tryout objective: The Cheyenne Junior League Board has elected to support a competitive program.  Cheyenne Stars teams, 8U-12U age groups are being formed at this time to provide an opportunity for players and coaches to practice and prepare for the 2017 season.  These teams will represent CJL throughout regional tournaments during the 2017 season.  Stars tryouts are conducted to assess the baseball skills of each player.  Skill assessments are being conducted by coaches and independent evaluators.  Players will be evaluated and rated based on their skills displayed at the tryout.  The top rated players will be contacted and offered a roster spot.  Teams will carry 11 or 12 players on their roster.

Players selected and accepting a roster spot will be required to pay a non-refundable $250 registration fee to secure the roster spot.  Total cost of STARS and CJL registration is $500.  Remaining balance of $250 due before January 8th, 2017.  All families will be required to help in all team fundraisers.  These fundraisers are held to reduce your family costs.  The estimated per player cost for a successful competitive season is $1000.

Regular Season Play: Due to the time and conflicts between Stars and regular season CJL Teams, players selected to play with the Stars will not be eligible to play regular season CJL Rec ball.

Board support:

  • The Junior League Board allows Stars teams to sell sponsor banners to raise money for team expenses.  Banners will hang on CJL fences throughout the complex.

Coaches, Players and Parent Responsibilities:

  • Be an outstanding representative for Cheyenne Junior League baseball
  • This is competitive baseball.  Coaches, players, and parents must be committed for the team to succeed.
  • As stated above STARS Teams will need to participate in team fundraisers or CJL banner sponsor program to cover team expenses incurred throughout the season, i.e. hats, sox, jersey, jackets, tournament fees, practice facility rental, …etc.
  • Tentative Stars Schedule: At coaches' discretion.
  • Practices likely to begin first of the year.  One or two practices a week.  Will likely increase as season draws near and weather improves.  Indoor practices may be conducted in north batting cage facility or school district approved gym time.
  • Teams will compete in local and regional tournaments throughout the season.  The Number of tournaments teams participate in is dependent on team goals and finances.  Generally 5 or more tournaments beginning in March or April.
